I’m excited to bring my 20+ years of leadership, sales & marketing experience to this important initiative. I'm passionate about using my skills to help create sustainable food solutions for Canada's northern communities.
I was raised on a small family farm in Southwestern Ontario, and know how important our gardens were to our food security. Like my mother and grandmothers before me, I’ve always had a garden to provide fresh vegetables for my family, and know the important role our harvests played to our family’s wellness.
I believe that everyone has the right to be able to access affordable, fresh, healthy food, and I’m excited to be able to help bring this innovative growing system to the north.
I have been interested in how machines and things work since I built a crystal radio kit at age 6, and have always enjoyed learning about Science & Technology.
Over the past 35 years, I have developed many eco-friendly products: Enclosed Swimming Areas that float in any body of polluted water and provide a safe swimming environment, automotive hydrogen injection equipment that reduced fuel costs by 19%, a chemical free, copper/silver ionization water purification system that's still used in swimming pools today.
I am a mentor and resource member of the Solar CITIES Biogas Innoventors & Builders non-profit organization. We teach people around the developing world how to build biodigestors that reduce greenhouse gas, generating organic fertilizer to re-mediate depleted soils and producing a free clean cooking fuel.
I am a certified builder for Green Magic Homes (GMH), who developed the technology on which our Agrotunnel food security structures are based.
Experience and knowledge from all of these areas has helped us to create a unique system that can alleviate the food insecurity issues facing northern communities across Canada.
I have been engaged in natural heath and healing practices for over 30 years. Being very inquisitive I have always followed my passions and learning as I have been inspired.
My first business ventures started at age 16 when I began a lawn maintenance business and swimming instruction from our family swimming pool. Since then I have been involved in various businesses that benefit the planet and help empower people.
At this time, I feel an urgency and calling to help the health of our planet. Working with Food Security Structures Canada will help communities to become independent and resilient to climate changes and less dependent on large food producers and high transport costs.
I am excited to be a part of this project as we can help so many communities gain better access to affordable food year round. I love that these structures are sustainable, ecological, self perpetuating, affordable and can help build healthy communities regardless of their location.
Food Security is everyone's birthright. That is a win-win! This inspires me.
